Sources, rights & limits
Every card separates visible clues from geological interpretation. All 24 illustrations are original SVG compositions. Six use a numeric terrain derivative or its sampling metadata; one presents inherited acquisition metadata; the others are illustrative. No photograph, third-party diagram, model texture or external font is reused.
Terrain subset: data, exact input hashes and coordinates. Curriculum: reusable JSON. Source records: JSON ledger.
G01 · Hoodoos
National Park Service, Bryce Canyon National Park · 2021-09-04
Supports. Physical weathering and erosion; sediment predates sculpting; contrasting resistance contributes to projecting and recessed intervals.
Limits. No numerical ages, local erosion rates or annual freeze counts are adopted. The Lake Claron image is third-party media and is not reused.
Rights. Original paraphrases and links only; no source text or media copied.
Verification. Page opened and relevant process text read, 2026-10-02.
G02 · Wall and Narrows
National Park Service, Bryce Canyon National Park · 2021-09-04
Supports. Fins are narrow walls bounded by fractures; cracks admit water; runoff can transport broken material.
Limits. No universal joint-origin, weather schedule, freeze count, precise age or absolute dolomite-dissolution claim is adopted.
Rights. Original paraphrases and links only; no source photograph or diagram copied.
Verification. Page opened and relevant process text read, 2026-10-02.
G03 · Arches
National Park Service, Bryce Canyon National Park · 2015-02-24
Supports. Openings in fins, Natural Bridge as a window/arch, gravity, and a conceptual window-to-pillar sequence.
Limits. Terminology is qualified; no window size threshold, universal sequence, duration or failure forecast is taught.
Rights. Original paraphrases and links only; no source photograph or diagram copied.
Verification. Page opened and terminology/process discussion read, 2026-10-02.
G04 · Deciphering Nature’s Palette wayside
National Park Service · 2024-01-08
Supports. Informal upper white and lower pink Claron members; varied sedimentary materials.
Limits. Member order is not a local thickness or color-classification rule. Numerical ages and simplified uplift account are not reproduced.
Rights. Original paraphrases and links only; wayside artwork is not copied or traced.
Verification. Wayside text opened and read, 2026-10-02.
G05 · Geology of Bryce Canyon National Park
US Geological Survey · Page date not established
Supports. Carbonate dissolution; fault displacement; relative superposition under stated assumptions.
Limits. The broad page’s stratigraphic grouping and simplified tectonic/rock-type claims are not adopted. No pH or dissolution rate is inferred.
Rights. Original paraphrases and links only; no photograph or diagram copied.
Verification. Relevant dissolution, faults and stratigraphy paragraphs read, 2026-10-02.
G06 · Grand Staircase
National Park Service, Bryce Canyon National Park · 2024-06-03
Supports. Regional sedimentary succession linking Bryce, Zion and Grand Canyon.
Limits. No diagram is treated as a measured transect or evenly spaced clock.
Rights. Original paraphrases and links only; no source artwork copied.
Verification. Page opened and regional definition read, 2026-10-02.
G07 · NPS Stratotype Inventory
National Park Service, Geology · Page date not established
Supports. Formation/member/bed hierarchy and multiple properties used in mapping rock units.
Limits. Does not identify any contact or sample on these cards.
Rights. Original paraphrases and links only; no media copied.
Verification. Introduction and The Best Rock section read, 2026-10-02.
G08 · Bedrock fracture by ice segregation in cold regions
Science 314, 1127–1129; abstract indexed by US National Library of Medicine · 2006-11-17
Supports. Experiments support ice segregation as a bedrock-fracture mechanism; a simple air-temperature crossing does not measure fracture.
Limits. Experimental abstract evidence, not Bryce field calibration. Direct page extraction was empty; indexed primary abstract wording was verified by targeted search, consistent with the retained source register.
Rights. Copyright AAAS; brief original paraphrase, no article text or figures reproduced.
Verification. Primary abstract indexed result verified, 2026-10-02; full paper not reviewed in this lane.
D01 · Integrated Sunset Point sector: terrain, profile and imagery metadata
BCC integrated landmark collection, derived from USGS 3DEP; imagery metadata from USDA NAIP · 2026-10-02 integrated snapshot
Supports. Actual 129-node center row across 512 m; 2018-source elevation; upper-envelope processing; 2024-07-23 imagery date; encoding and surface limits.
Limits. Historical educational derivative. Source native horizontal NAD83(2011)/UTM12N; export horizontal WGS84/UTM12N; vertical NAVD88/Geoid12B retained. No survey-grade datum alignment, underground contacts, hidden undersides, navigation or current condition. Named locator used by the source study came from OpenStreetMap; no locator coordinates or OSM data are redistributed by this pack.
Rights. USGS elevation data public domain; original BCC derivation and diagrams. Only numeric height subset and source metadata reused. No USDA image pixels, third-party photographs, fonts, maps or prior illustrations copied.
Verification. Copied model.json, profiles.json.gz, imagery.json and source builder inspected; hashes and exact extraction recorded in terrain-profile.json.
